Typo-motion Part 2 - Ideas Generation

During the lesson in week 2 I developed my idea fairly quickly from just a rough idea, to having everything planned and ready to start working on.

I first started with the quote "Wazzup" as Scary Movie is one of my favourite films and I find the 50 second clip really funny. I then started brainstorming ideas of how to animate the word "Wazzup." This was probably the most complicated part of my ideas generation because the word get's stretched out over a few seconds at a time. But I soon thought of typing out the word fairly long and then using the vCam to follow it. This was very beneficial since the vCam can move at it's own pace, all I have to do is set it at the beginning and end frame and hope it runs smoothly.

Another major part of my ideas generation was incorporating the word "Typography" or "Typo-motion" into the animation. I have decided to incorporate the word at the very beginning when Scream is pressing the numbers in the phone. I drew up a replica image of the mini-mob, which is a large phone that was used years back, and timed the button press so when the sound from each button is heard, a light shows up on a button in my animation and the word "Typo-motion" spells out. Also the button pressed is also the same as the one you would use to spell out "Typo-motion" is you were to write it on your phone.

The third and final part of my ideas generation was to use images in my animation. Since the "Wazzup" conversation is taken place via phone in the movie, I have stuck with that and used two different phones. The first being the Mini-Mob and the second is an old house phone. I used the mini-mob because it looks like the phone Scream uses in the film and I chose the old house phone because it allowed me to have a small animation of the phone vibrating, like it's being called.
